KEO International Consultants has appointed its first-ever chief operating officer.

After spending the past eight years in senior management positions at Aecom, Dr Hagh will assume the newly created position at KEO with immediate effect.

Dr Hagh, who has also worked as project director of Saudi Arabia’s $30bn (SAR113bn) Riyadh Metro project, has 35 years of industry experience.

Commenting on his appointment, Donna Sultan, president and chief executive officer of KEO, said: “Abdol Hagh is one of our industry’s most accomplished professionals.

“His appointment is a very important move that KEO has taken to provide sharp and significant depth to its organisational capabilities.

“I look forward to working with Abdol and to his leadership serving our clients with passion and providing mentoring to our people in working together as the leading consultancy firm,” she added.

As COO, Dr Hagh will report directly to Sultan. He will be fully responsible for leading KEO’s design-related business, which includes the delivery of all architectural, engineering, planning, and landscaping services.

Dr Hagh will also have a far-reaching business development role in all of the consultancy’s markets, with a remit to win and deliver major projects, and to expand into new markets and services.

“I have always believed that technical excellence and profitable growth must have [an] equal level of importance within a large multidisciplinary organisation,” said Dr Hagh.

“Attention to our employees – their professional growth and technical achievements – is a must for any large multidisciplinary firm,” he continued. “Our profession often falls short in this area. This will be one of my big areas of focus in this exciting new position as KEO’s COO.”

Sultan added: “With Abdol, we have both a highly experienced operational leader in the delivery of consultancy services, but also someone with an impressive background and exceptional professional achievements.

“His commitment to strong team building [is suited to] KEO’s vision of acquiring, promoting, and maintaining a highly motivated environment for all our staff,” she concluded.
