Video: JMCI’s Jerry Beades discusses late payment

Jerry Beades, Qatar country manager of JMCI Demolition, discusses the challenge of late payment at the Construction Week Qatar Awards 2016

Jerry Beades, Qatar country manager at JMCI, has identified late payment as the biggest problem facing Qatar’s construction sector.

Speaking at the Construction Week Qatar Awards 2016, Beades revealed that the demolition company has had to become more aggressive in securing payments from its clients.

“The biggest problem in Qatar at the moment is payments, and keeping oneself funded,” he told CWQ. “There’s plenty of work, but getting payments in is a big, big issue.”

Beades explained that JMCI’s strategy has already achieved some success.

“We’ve got more aggressive in requesting payments, and I’ve just had a series of meetings over the last couple of days, chasing up old money. This week, we actually got money in that we’ve been chasing over the last three months that was outstanding for two years,” he added.
