Majid Al Futtaim is eying future work with ISG Middle East, following the fit-out firm’s successful fit-out of Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates.

The contract, which scooped the prize for Interior Fit-Out Project of the Year at the Commercial Interior Design Awards 2016, formed part of Majid Al Futtaim’s $100.2m (AED368m) hotel investment initiative.

Following the success of ISG Middle East’s work at the hotel, Simon Barlow, chief executive officer of hotels at Majid Al Futtaim Properties, said that he was looking forward to further collaboration between the two companies.

“Connected to Majid Al Futtaim’s flagship destination, Mall of the Emirates, the Kempinski Hotel is one of our most successful developments,” Barlow explained. “The investment behind the hotel refurbishment solidifies its position as a leading luxury hospitality destination in the UAE, and ensures that it offers guests the very latest in design, technology, and architecture.

“We are honoured to receive the award for Fit-Out Project of the Year as it recognises the dedication and seamless efforts from the Majid Al Futtaim and ISG Middle East teams to deliver the project to the best quality standards.

“We look forward to working together on future projects to create more great moments for our hotel guests every day,” Barlow added.

ISG Middle East’s work at Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates involved the renovation of all 373 of the building’s guest rooms and suites, and its 20 Aspen Chalets.

As part of the project, the fit-out firm also refurbished the hotel’s external façades, added a new façade lighting scheme, built an external terrace, and upgraded its reception area to include an all-day dining facility.

The resort remained operational throughout the course of the refurbishment period.

Steve Ramsden, managing director of ISG Middle East, said: “I would like to thank the CID Awards and judges for this wonderful recognition. It has been an exceptional year for ISG, and it is great that the market is taking notice and that our work on Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates is formally recognised.

“I also wish to tahnk our partners at Majid Al Futtaim, who worked so diligently to make this project such a celebrated success,” he concluded.
