Qatar: Pedestrian bridge committee approved

In an effort to address pedestrian safety in Qatar, a committee to oversee the construction of pedestrian bridges has been approved by the Cabinet

A committee is to oversee the implementation of different stages of an agreement for the building of pedestrian bridges in Qatar.

The Cabinet has given approval to a draft decision by HE Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Metab Al-Rumaihi, Qatar's Minister of Municipality and Environment, to establish a committee to oversee pedestrian bridge construction.

According to law, the committee will be chaired by a representative from the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), while the panel will comprise representatives of all designated authorities, Qatar News Agency reported.

The committee will be tasked with following up on the work carried out by the company implementing the project.

It will also operate the bridges while ensuring that the construction timelines are met and are compatible with the designs.
