Bahrain's prime minister issued orders to begin the development of a residential project that will be implemented in collaboration with the country's housing bank.

HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa released directives to commence works on the East Sitra Housing Project to build the project's 5,000 units before the end of this year.

The project is due to meet the goals set out in the Government Action Plan, the Prime Minister said, adding that the development should be funded through cooperation and coordination with the Eskan Bank.

The country's Housing Ministry has been asked to cooperate with the Ministry of Finance to further collaboration with Eskan Bank, state agency BNA reported.

The Prime Minister's directives were issued ahead of the United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat III), set to take place in Ecuador later this month.
