Quick Chat: Daikin Middle East and Africa
The HVAC supplier outlines some of its new products
What new products have you released?
More than 15 new products were introduced to this region, specially developed to meet the high ambient conditions of the GCC – exceeding the minimum energy efficiency requirements set by regional regulators such as ESMA, Estidama, AD QCC, SASO, MEW, QSSASO, Bahrain SASO and others.
Products include: flagship VRV IV, compact VRV IV, first GCC high ambient future R-32 refrigerant split system, new DX R-410A line-up: split wall, ducts, cassette, and rooftops.
Daikin sells a full range of products covering all residential, commercial and industrial applications. We are a total solution provider, having a full range of split systems, air purifications, ventilations, rooftops, VRV/F systems, air and water-cooled chillers, air handling units, fan coil units and modular chiller plants.
What are the main market trends?
Energy efficient models can help reduce at least 30% of the conventional AC energy consumption rates without sacrificing on the expected comfort levels. Our aim is to continue the development of highly efficient models suitable for the high ambient temperatures of this region.
We have launched a new refrigerant, R-32, for residential products, which will set a new milestone in air conditioning sustainability because of its low global warming potential and zero Ozone depletion. This refrigerant has been implemented in an inverter wall split, which is considered the most efficient and greenest air conditioner in the market. This can help to reduce up to 50% energy consumption compared to conventional air conditioning.
Regulators and clients are also pushing for the development of more green and highly efficient products and some industry bodies have started to recognise and promote these. Emirates Green Building Council awarded the Daikin VRV IV series the Green Building award of Year 2016.
What are the main market challenges?
The HVAC market in the GCC and Middle East has been witnessing the increasing use of energy-efficient HVAC systems. Minimum energy efficiency standards are changing frequently and each country has slightly different requirements. Daikin is consistently challenged to develop new products that comply with each country’s specific regulations. Daikin is looking forward to enhancing its full product range including commercial and industrial applications for high efficiency product lines using inverter technology and the new R-32 refrigerant. We have also just opened an office in Egypt.
