Mirage has revealed plans to inaugurate Mirage Project Point Dubai during Dubai Design Week.

The design hub, which is the porcelain stoneware manufacturer’s first outside of Italy, is located in Dubai Design District (d3).

To mark the opening of the facility, Mirage will use Dubai Design Week as a platform to host a full programme of free-to-attend talks and events.

Commenting on her firm’s plans, Tanya Pearson, manager of Mirage Middle East, said: “We want to give something back to the design community here, and encourage people to get together and discuss the industry that we all love to work in.

“Mirage Project Point Dubai offers architects, interior designers, and design professionals a versatile, open meeting and consultancy space, to be used for presentations, exhibitions, talks, or simply have a coffee with the Mirage Middle East team.

On Monday, 24 October, the opening day of Dubai Design Week, Mirage Project Point Dubai will host a panel discussion about fire safety and fire-resistant materials in the regional construction and design industry, highlighting key new advice drafted by UAE Civil Defence.

Guest speakers at the event, which run from 12.30pm to 2.30pm, will include Abhishek Chhabra of Thomas Bell-Wright International Consultants, Robert Davies of WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, Abdul Hamid Benhalim of Khatib & Alami, and Ammar Saad of Lever Building Materials.

From 12.30pm to 2.30pm on Tuesday, 25 October, Victor Siriani, managing partner of Avid IP, will deliver a presentation about the protection of intellectual property in the Middle East. Siriani will consider how architects and interior designers can safeguard their concept ideas, completed projects, and interior and exterior architecture from plagiarists with the use of trademarks, patents, and copyright.

From 2pm to 4pm on Wednesday, 26 October, Pallavi Dean Interiors, the firm responsible for the design of Mirage Project Point Dubai, will host a design talk about the creation of contemporary commercial spaces. Pallavi Dean, design director, and Christina Morgan, director of interior design, will discuss creative ideas and tips, drawing on the design details of the Mirage’s Dubai facility, and other examples from their project portfolio.

“Having worked with m any regional architects and interior design practices over the decades, and now being based in d3, it was important for us to support regional initiatives like Dubai Design Week that encourage the designers of the future, as well as established design practices,” said Pearson.

“We hope visitors to Dubai Design Week will find our talks educational, insightful, and topical,” she added.

Mirage Project Point Dubai will be open from 9am to 6pm for design tours throughout Dubai Design Week.
