Sharjah to implement GIS surveys for labour homes
An agreement to further the operation was signed by the Sharjah Labour Standards Development Authority (SLSDA) with GIS company, GISTEC
Labour accommodation in Sharjah will be surveyed using technologies such as geographic information system (GIS) and mobile apps.
The field surveys would be aimed at procuring "precise information about the current status of existing facilities and services available to workers, and to predict future needs", it has been confirmed.
An agreement to further the operation was signed by the Sharjah Labour Standards Development Authority (SLSDA) with GIS company, GISTEC.
GISTEC will provide the ArcGIS system to develop apps and provide training and GIS services on web and mobile app platforms.
ArcGIS and Servay123, another GISTEC platform, will help SLSDA conduct its surveys and document their findings across all labour camps in the emirate, state agency WAM reported.
Remarking on the agreement, Salem Yousef Al Qaseer, chairman of SLSDA, said: "We always seek to enhance the work environment in the emirate of Sharjah through the provision of support to employees to encourage them to work with higher efficiency."
