Mall of Oman construction work to begin early 2017
The Mall of Oman, which is scheduled to open by 2020, will begin construction work on site early next year as the contract has been awarded to Sarooj Construction
Construction on the Mall of Oman will start soon, Majid Al Futtaim officials announced on Tuesday.
Sarooj Construction, along with their subcontractors, have been appointed to undertake the enabling and highway works of the mall, as part of Phase 1.
The appointed contractor is starting construction works imminently having set a number of key milestones, enabling the commencement of the mall’s construction works in early 2017.
The initial works will include bulk excavations, retaining walls, utility diversions, followed by major road and bridge construction around interchange number six of the Muscat Expressway.
When it opens in 2020, the mall will feature 350 outlets in a 13.7ha retail space. It will also feature Oman's largest snow-park, with an 8,000m2 play area, and the largest Vox Cinemas and Magic Planet in the region.

The Mall of Oman is part of a wider $1.33bn (OMR515m) investment in the country by Majid Al Futtaim, which has also announced the construction of City Centre Sohar and My City Centre Sur in the Sultanate.
