The proposed Hyperloop concept will support Expo 2020’s vision of mobility and innovation
The proposed Hyperloop One concept will support Expo 2020’s vision of mobility and innovation, according to an official.
Ahmad Al Khatib, Vice President of Real Estate for Expo 2020 Dubai, reacted positively to the news of the Hyperloop, as he said it will coincide with the opening of the Dubai Expo in October 2020.
“I’m very excited about this because mobility is one of our main sub-themes,” he said, speaking to Dubai Eye.
Al Khatib said that Expo has always been about innovation, discovery and major announcements and expressed his confidence in the Dubai government’s, as well as the Roads and Transpot Authority’s (RTA) ability to implement the event successfully.
The architect’s behind the Hyperloop concept say they are poised for success, believing they have a “very good shot” of developing a full proposal by 2020.
“Dubai is capable of creating the almost unimaginable possible overnight,” said Founder & Creative Partner of Bjarke Ingels, Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) when asked about why he chose the city for his trial launch.
Hyperloop is described as a point-to-point system designed to move cargo or passengers at speeds of up to 1,100km/h.
