MEP Awards 2016: Severin Tenim young engineer
A stunned Tenim thanks judges for award in highly competitive category
ALEMCO’s Severin Tenim was crowned Young Engineer of the Year.
Currently, Tenim fulfils the role of construction manager in charge of all MEP services on the hotel villas, engineering and maintenance buildings as well as the staff laundry on the five-star Bvlgari Hotel and Resort project in Dubai.
He impressed the judges with his in-depth review of designs and installations to solve problems and for his showing management and leadership skills as a young engineer.
“I didn’t expect to win but I’m glad that the judges recognised my willingness to always go that extra mile to get an end result. Bvlgari hotel has been a great, but tough project to work,” he commented.
One judge said he has shown his skills across complex systems and challenging projects, adding: “His passion for sustainable solutions also place him apart from other in the running and will no doubt open great opportunities for him in the future.”
Tenim said: “A lot of what we do is looking at systems and trying to make them more energy efficient. One of the initiatives on this project was to get a hot water circulation system for the main hotel and for some of the mansions on the project.”
He is currently taking part in the ALEC graduate programme, Evolve, which is conducted over two years. The programme is solely focused on a range of professional and personal development where the objective is to develop employee’s communication abilities and soft skills.
“ALEMCO is one of the companies where you really are thrown at the deep end and when you learn to swim, it does work to your benefit. We have a lot of mentors in the company we can learn from,” said Tenim.
