One of Qatar’s largest producers of quality ready mixed concrete, Aamal Readymix, has won a sustainability award.

A branch of Aamal Company Q.S.C. Aamal Readymix has been awarded the First International Qatar Sustainability Award 2016 by the Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC).

The award comes in recognition of the company’s contribution to green building in the development of concrete and was awarded under the Green Building Material and Green Concrete categories.

The Qatar Sustainability Awards aims to pay tribute the commitment, work and influence of both companies and individuals in the arena of sustainable development and environmental protection in Qatar and beyond.

Meshal Al-Shamari, director, QGBC, said that the combined efforts of these various companies and individuals – which are active members of Qatar’s sustainability industry – are advancing the Qatar National Vision 2030: “These awards serve to raise sustainability awareness and encourage the wider industry to do their part and work towards building a ‘greener’ future”.

Accepting the Award, Parveez Aslam, general manager, Aamal Readymix, said: “It was a great honour to participate in the Qatar Sustainability Awards and receiving the first award is a strong endorsement of our commitment to sustainable development.

“Our nomination was the result of our continuous efforts in maintaining a green environment while using advanced products and technologies.”

The GM went on to describe how Aamal Readymix is making great strides toward sustainability and green buildings principles, from the initial design concepts that incorporate low-impact, environmentally sensitive building materials, to utilising energy efficient equipment, while reducing construction site waste and practicing inter-company sustainability.

He added: “Through these steps, we aim to minimise the impact of our operational procedures on the surrounding environment. I would like to take this opportunity to thank QGBC for their efforts in educating the public through honest communication, which can help them better understand the industry’s role in addressing environmental responsibility for a more sustainable future.”

For more than 20 years Aamal Readymix has recognised the inter-dependency business and the community and that working in a socially responsible way is crucial to operating successfully in local communities.

It is within this context that the company is keenly participating in various initiatives, contributing significantly in the field of sustainable development and environmental protection.
