Sustainability is the key factor being highlighted by building materials company Technal at this year’s Big 5, currently underway in Dubai.

The company is showcasing a range of new products at the event which highlight eco-friendly design – but it is also looking to move into other markets across the region.

It specialises in aluminium widow and door systems along with facades – the stand at Big 5 has a building from Dubai Design District as part of its backdrop.

Oman is a focus for the business at present. Managing director Jean–Marc Lavisutto (pictured centre) said: “The UAE and Qatar have been good for us with projects such as Burj Vista in Dubai and the high-rise Skyview project.

“The market in Oman is not on the same scale yet, but when it explodes, we want to explode with it.”

The company has also been working with Masdar City in Abu Dhabi on its sustainability drive.

“Energy saving is now something that drives companies and that shows how sustainability has become such an important part of the design and build industry,” said Lavissuto.
