Shapoorji Pallonji International has been picked as main contractor for Dubai's Cayan Cantara development, a twin-tower project comprising residential and hospitality components.

Site excavation works have been completed, and construction work on the project is due to commence shortly.

Up to 60% of the project's residential units have been sold already, with the overall development expected to comprise 700 units ranging from studios to three-bedroom apartments and penthouses.

Additional amenities offering retail, leisure, and food and beverage services will also be developed.

Remarking on the contract win, Mohan Saini, managing director and CEO of Shapoorji Pallonji International, said: "Developing Cayan Cantara will be an exciting project, especially as we bring to life some of its architectural delights.

"We welcome the challenges involved in building this beautiful masterpiece without compromising on quality."

The $272.2m (AED1bn) project is a joint venture between Cayan Group and Shuaa Capital.

One of its two towers is 38 floors high, while the other comprises 42 storeys.

The towers will be linked by a bridge containing a hanging glass-walled swimming pool, a fitness centre, an outdoor screen, and a conference hall.

The project has been designed by architects Nikken Sekkei and by UAE-based Dewan Architects.
