Ramboll’s Brian Sweeney was named Project Manager of the Year at the Construction Week Awards 2016.

Sweeney was described by CW’s panel of industry judges as somebody who handles complex, large-scale projects while still finding time for staff development.

One panellist commended him for his client relationships and organisational expertise.

ALEC’s Johan Moolman was named this year’s highly commended project manager. Moolman was also applauded by the judging panel for his track record of managing large-scale, multi-faceted projects.

Brian Sweeney, associate director for project management at Ramboll said: “I’m extremely humbled, I didn’t expect to win this award. I’m very gracious and hopefully it reflects well in what I do. Winning the project manager of the year award is not just for me, I’m only the figure head for many people in my team. It’s been a pleasure to work for everyone.”

He added that that some of the most interesting projects he’s worked on are “Green Planet and Hub Zero in City Walk, and Damac Heights in Dubai Marina”.

Sweeney’s priorities for the coming year include “help Ramboll win more work, and deliver projects I’m working on the moment on time and within budget”.

Other shortlisted nominees included Ioannis Spanos of KEO International Consultants; Lay Kiat Neo from Faithful+Gould; Neal Coote of Parsons; and Pedro Duarte from Multiplex.

An independent panel of seven judges, made up from industry professionals from across the GCC and throughout the construction sector, selected winners in 14 categories at the CW Awards 2016.

The event was supported by Platinum Sponsor FAMCO; Gold Sponsors ALEC, ASGC, Faithful+Gould, and Parsons; Silver Sponsors Aconex and Al Manader Road Contracting; Category Sponsors Atkins, Construction Computer Software (CCS), Kone, Multiplex, National Engineering Bureau (NEB), Projacs, Ramboll, and Soprema; Official Aluminium Extruder National Aluminium Products Company Oman (NAPCO); and Social Media Partner WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff.
