CW Awards 2016: Lifetime Achievement Award
CWO reveals the winner of its Lifetime Achievement Award, announced at last night’s Construction Week Awards 2016
Aecom’s Riad Nashif received the Editorial Choice Award for Lifetime Achievement at the Construction Week Awards 2016.
CW’s editorial team selected Nashif for this accolade due to his vast experience, excellent track record of project delivery, and dedication to workforce development.
Nashif has worked with Aecom since 1988, when he joined as a resident field engineer. He has since climbed the ranks to become the company’s executive vice president in the Middle East, and managing director for the UAE and Oman.
During the course of his career, Nashif has worked on some of the region’s largest projects. In the UAE alone, his resume includes developments such as Khalifa Port Industrial Zone, Etihad Towers, and Al Raha Beach in Abu Dhabi; and Etisalat Headquarters, Al Khail Road, and Al Ittihad Interchange in Dubai.
Nashif is also a keen proponent of passing on the knowledge and skills that he has acquired over the years. Commenting on Aecom’s talent development activities in a 2015 interview with Construction Week, he said: “Our graduate and career development programmes are aimed at different demographics, but they have both been implemented to develop people’s careers and skills.
“We believe strongly in the younger generation. They are our future leaders, and we want to prepare them.”
The event was supported by Platinum Sponsor FAMCO; Gold Sponsors ALEC, ASGC, Faithful+Gould, and Parsons; Silver Sponsors Aconex and Al Manader Road Contracting; Category Sponsors Atkins, Construction Computer Software (CCS), Kone, Multiplex, National Engineering Bureau (NEB), Projacs, Ramboll, and Soprema; Official Aluminium Extruder National Aluminium Products Company Oman (NAPCO); and Social Media Partner WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff.
