Qatar Charity (QC), a non-governmental organisation (NGO), will support the development of 1,000 housing units in Syria, it has been announced.

The housing caravans will be equipped with solar power and furnished for those whose houses have been completely demolished in several areas across Syria.

QC said it had previously held a coordination meeting in Ankara to prepare for the shelter project, which will be implemented in partnership with the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) within the coming weeks, according to Qatar News Agency.

Khalid Abdulla Al Yafei, director of operations management at QC, said that the joint venture with AFAD comes as part of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed by the two sides last month in Ankara.
