The Ministry of Housing in Bahrain has started the construction of 160 flats as part of Hajiyat residential project.

The housing scheme is already on significant track with 8% of construction works already attained, said Assistant Undersecretary for Housing projects, Sami Abdulla Bouhaza’a.

The new Hajiyyat residential project is part of a string of schemes, which are under construction across the Kingdom of Bahrain, reported the Bahrain News Agency.

The minister added: "We are very keen on providing necessary services, trade, and social facilities to all the residents. We are determined to fast-track work on Hajiyyat residential project, which features in the Government Action Plan, stipulating the construction of 25,000 units in the four governorates.

"The move is also in line with the royal order to construct 40,000 housing units."
