As the Doha Expressway slowly takes shape, a series of localised roadworks will bring the huge project to fruition.

Qatar’s Public Works Authority, Ashghal announced that roadworks will commence on an 800-metre stretch of 22 February Street.

The construction works will narrow all three lanes in each direction along an 800-metre stretch of 22 February Street.

In coordination with the Traffic Police Department and commencing on Tuesday 24 January, the diversion works will last for 11 months.

Trucks and heavy load vehicles travelling towards Al Shamal and the Industrial Area will be prohibited from using this route during this time. Instead, they will have to use the service roads and follow diversion signs towards Al Rayyan Roundabout.

This is to accommodate the construction of a new flyover as part of Ashghal’s Al Rayyan Road Upgrade Project which, when completed, will connect the Doha Expressway with Al Rayyan Road (west) and enable free-flowing traffic.

Ashghal requests that all road users abide by the speed limit of 50kph for the length of the diversion, and follow newly installed traffic road signs to ensure their safety.
