InSinkErator, a manufacturer of food waste disposers for residential and commercial use, announced it has launched its first training centre for the Middle East and Africa (MEA).

The training centre is located within the Jebel Ali Free Zone South headquarters of Emerson, of which InSinkErator is a business unit.

A press statement by the company revealed that the training centre has been launched in light of growing demand for food disposal systems that reduce wastage in both, local commercial and residential sectors.

Sessions conducted through the training centre will feature "access to regional food wastage insights, hands-on product demonstrations, as well as regular updates from ongoing research", the statement added.

Citing figures revealed by Emirates Environmental Group in 2016, InSinkErator said that up to $4bn (AED14.7bn) worth of food is sent to landfills each year.

InSinkErator's senior business development manager, Mohamed Karam, said the training centre will "encourage two-way dialogue about sustainable waste management in the region".

He added: "We are continually striving to ensure that our partners and internal teams are fully equipped with the hands-on experience required to better address our customers’ waste disposal needs, as well as understand the region’s sustainability goals.

"The launch of the training centre is a step towards offering an aligned perspective to all partners and employees when it comes to topic of sustainable food waste disposal."
