Campaign to raise Abu Dhabi waste awareness
Tadweer, Abu Dhabi Municipality, and Averda have launched a three-month waste awareness campaign in the UAE emirate's Western Zone
Centre of Waste Management – Abu Dhabi (Tadweer) has teamed up with Abu Dhabi Municipality and Averda to launch a three-month waste awareness campaign in Abu Dhabi main island's Western Zone.
Averda is the municipal waste services contractor for the Western Zone.
The campaign is aimed at promoting waste reduction, reuse, recycling, and source-sorting information, Nayel Rashed Al Shamsi, project manager at Tadweer, said.
He continued: "The campaign is part of a series of awareness initiatives organised by Tadweer to develop a sustainable waste management culture among the residents of Abu Dhabi.
"It is crucial to maintaining the cleanliness of the emirate in line with Abu Dhabi Vision and Plan."
The campaign is expected to boost local environmental awareness and revenues from material recovery, with Tadweer planning to conduct similar programmes in other parts of the emirate.
The company is also working on developing and delivering integrated waste management and public health pest control systems that match international standards standards.
To fulfil the initiative, Tadweer is investing in specialised assets and human resources and adopting advanced technology, WAM reported.
