Saudi Rail Company (SAR) has awarded a contract to Bahri for the provision of transportation and shipping services.

Under the terms of the deal, the logistics and transportation provider will also deliver customs clearance support through its Bahri Logistics business unit.

The agreement was signed by Khalid Abdulrahman Abanami, chief financial officer and designate executive vice president for common services at SAR; and Ahmed Mohammed Al-Ghaith, president of Bahri Logistics.

Commenting on the deal, Bahri’s Al-Ghaith said: “We are pleased to sign this contract with SAR, one of the leading national companies dedicated to continuously enhancing its services.

“The contract also falls in line with [Saudi Vision 2030], as Bahri is constantly working to strengthen and expand its services to further reinforce the transportation sector in the kingdom, and play an important role in the [country’s] economic diversification efforts.”

As part of the agreement, Bahri Logistics will provide SAR with transportation and shipping services for all types of cargo, implementing an electronic system to track shipments from their country of origin to their final destination.

The firm will also offer maritime transportation-related consultancy services.

Al-Ghaith concluded: “We are confident this deal will positively contribute to the kingdom’s economic growth.”
