Video: EMC brings G-Class challenge to Abu Dhabi
Emirates Motor Company sets up a mechanical iron mountain from Mercedes-Benz to demonstrate the off-road capabilities of the G-Wagon
Emirates Motor Company (EMC) brought a mechanical iron mountain dubbed The Iron Schöckl by Mercedes-Benz to Abu Dhabi’s Marina Mall to allow 1,000 car-loving adventurers to experience the feeling of an AMG G500 4x4, or G-Class Wagon, on 45-degree slopes.
Ramez Youssef, Head of Marketing and Communications of Al Fahim Group, said: “The Iron Schöckl was developed to showcase the incomparable off-road capabilities of the G-Class, but perhaps more importantly it's extremely amusing for those who give it a try and great to watch.”
Abu Dhabi residents and visitors lined-up to witness the raw power that comes with forcing the car to undertake the mountain climb and the heart-stopping moment where the platform holding the G-Class tilted forward into the 45-degree descent.
To put this in perspective, the sheerest incline on Ferrari World’s record-breaking rollercoaster, the Flying Aces, is only slighter steeper, at 51 degrees.
