Cayan Group has condemned Viki Odintcova’s decision to hang off the side of Dubai’s Cayan Tower without taking any safety precautions.

A Russian model who suspended herself from the side of Dubai’s Cayan Tower breached security in order to pull off the stunt, according to Cayan Group.

The Saudi Arabian developer condemned the actions of Viki Odintcova, who was pictured hanging from the roof of the 306m-tall structure supported only by her assistant.

Cayan Group stated that the stunt was carried out without its approval or permission.

Gizel Daher, director of marketing and communications, explained: “Although the Cayan Tower has been periodically used for extreme sports events, in all cases, there has been safety, security, and emergency services on site.

“We have a process of selecting trained professionals skilled at their craft – especially these high-risk, life-threatening events – and carry out a [strict] review of the safety measures and backup safety measures before approving the event.”

The developer’s statement claimed that Odintcova and her assistant “expertly breached security to perform the stunt”.

“Under no circumstances can we condone Ms Odintcova’s irresponsible actions, and we are in the process of reviewing our security procedures to understand and rectify where the lapse occurred, and how to prevent [anything similar from happening] in the future,” Daher added.

Cayan Group revealed that it is taking legal action against all of those involved in the incident.
