Al Futtaim Carillion chosen for $600m Expo project

Al Futtaim Carillion has been chosen as the main contractor for a $600m project to develop three districts for Dubai Expo 2020, officials said on Thursday.

Al Futtaim Carillion has been chosen as the main contractor for a $600m project to develop three districts for Dubai Expo 2020, officials said on Thursday.

The contract will include the development of three districts – Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability – housing a total of about 136 pavilions that will be used by participating countries, non-governmental organisations and commercial partners, The National reported.

Edmund Mahabir, the managing director of Al Futtaim Carillion said that the company is already mobilising to start construction work on the 220,000m2 site by the end of March.

He said: "We are very proud to be able to play a role in the construction of the site for Expo 2020 Dubai, a venue that will play an important role in the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the UAE."

Al Futtaim Carillion won a competitive tender for which 35 contractors from around the world pre-qualified.
