CW Oman Awards 2017: Engineer of the Year revealed
CWO reveals the winner of the Engineer of the Year trophy, which was presented during the grand finale of the Construction Week Oman Awards 2017
Peter Buchanan, head of civil infrastructure, water, and environment at UK-headquartered consultancy, Atkins, was crowned Engineer of the Year at the Construction Week Oman Awards 2017.
In selecting this year’s top engineer in Oman, Construction Week’s panel of industry judges were asked to identify the individual who had best demonstrated their technical ability as an engineer, in addition to showing a willingness to pass on their knowledge to their less experienced colleagues.
Buchanan was described by the judges as somebody who continuously challenges himself, a characteristic demonstrated by the fact that he has taken his technical ability and leadership skills into a regional role at Atkins.
S&T Interiors and Contracting’s Rajeev Neela was named this year’s highly commended engineer. The judges described him as having a hands-on approach with technical skills to match.
Other shortlisted nominees for the Engineer of the Year Award included Aecom’s Abdul Raheem, Parsons’ Indranil Sengupta, KEO International Consultants’ Ali Al-A’raj, and Hoehler + alSalmy’s Lena Bikovski.
An independent panel of seven judges selected winners in 12 categories at the Construction Week Oman Awards 2017.
The event was supported by Gold Sponsor, Aecom; Category Sponsors Al Turki Enterprises (ATE), Design Group Engineering Consultants (DGEC), Khobar Integrated Construction, Sarooj Construction Company, Shapoorji Pallonji, and S&T Interiors and Contracting; Exhibition Partner, The Big Show Oman; Supporting Sponsor, the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB); and Legal Partner, Pinsent Masons.
Winners were announced during a gala dinner at the Grand Hyatt Muscat on Monday, 13 March.
