Construction on the recently announced MGM and Bellagio hotel development in Dubai, which will be operated by US-based MGM Resorts International, is set to begin in the third quarter of 2017.

The project will take four years to complete with the estimated opening date set for 2021, according to earlier reports.

"We are excited and honoured by the opportunity to introduce our brands in one of the world’s fastest-growing tourist destinations," said Bill Hornbuckle, president of MGM Resorts.

Developed by Wasl Hospitality and Leisure, a subsidiary of wasl Asset Management Group, the site will "occupy the longest stretch of waterfront ever developed in Dubai" along the Jumeirah Beach front.

The new development will help support the UAE’s growing tourism industry, which is considered as a key contributor of economic diversification in the country.
