Video: Emirates airline staff tackle US device ban

The airline's various staff teams are shown collaborating within an airport complex to ensure US-bound passengers can use their devices "right up until boarding"

A video uploaded by Emirates earlier this week shows how a combined effort between the airline's various staff teams – including those operating within the airport – is being deployed to fulfil a recent ban on electronic devices on flights departing for the US from select countries.

The ban, which took effect last month, prevents passengers bringing devices larger than smartphones as carry-on luggage on flights from eight MENA countries, including Saudi Arabia and the UAE, The Independent reported.

Emirates' latest video shows the airline's effort to ensure passengers are able to use their "laptops and tablets right up until boarding".

Issues pertaining to aviation management, including the impact of this ban on local aviation FM service providers, will be discussed at a roundtable to be hosted by fmME later this month.

Topics on the roundtable's agenda include cost management, operational efficiency optimisation, security, and change management.

Please email Vinay Ravindran (vinay.ravindran@itp.com), or call him on (+971) 055 810 1197 should you wish to participate in the roundtable.
