Video: AESG's Saeed Al Abbar on UAE Fire Code 2017

In the first of a five-part series, AESG director Saeed Al Abbar talks to ConstructionWeekOnline about the UAE's upcoming fire code

The upcoming UAE Fire and Life Safety Code 2017 is likely to be well-received by the country's construction professionals.

In an exclusive interview with ConstructionWeekOnline, Saeed Al Abbar, director of UAE-based specialist consultancy AESG, said that "the market will take to [the code] well".

Responding to a query about the evolution of the code since its first iteration in 2011, Al Abbar said: "With any building codes, you have to update them at periodic intervals, and with fire codes it's no different.

"As you said, the [previous iteration was launched] six years ago, so it's time for an update."
