French firms, ADNOC explore opportunities in UAE energy sector
French oil and gas companies showcased innovations and technologies during a series of themed workshops organised by EVOLEN and Businesses France, and attended by the ADNOC group
French association of oil and gas companies, EVOLEN, and Business France have announced hosting a series of themed workshops for French firms and the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) group.
In a statement, Business France said that the workshops – held under the patronage of HE Michel Miraillet, Ambassador of France to the UAE – served as a platform for French companies to showcase innovations and technologies that are designed to not only meet but also anticipate the demands of a fast-changing sector like oil and gas.
The workshops featured presentations from French experts on energy efficiency, operating facilities, digital innovations and smart infrastructure, energy storage, refining and petrochemical, water management and waste treatment, and control systems, among other topics.
Commenting on the event, Miraillet said: “I would like to express my sincere thanks to all the representatives of ADNOC group’s operating companies for attending the second UAE-France Oil & Gas Symposium. The Strategic Dialogue Committee initiated in 2013 between our two countries was determined to move towards this objective.
“Traditionally, large contracts represent the core of our exports with an industry driven by international leaders, such as Total and Veolia. However, French SMEs are becoming more active in the UAE, either [working] on their own or acting as subcontractors to large companies.”
According to Business France, the GCC remains France’s main export market in the Gulf region, valued at $3.8bn in 2016. Bilateral trade is said to have reached the $5bn, with the UAE ranked as France’s second biggest trade partner of France, after Saudi Arabia.
