Crowngate International has broken ground on Avani Al Marjan, a $50m, 225-key, four-star resort located on Ras Al Khaimah’s Al Marjan Island
Crowngate International has broken ground on Avani Al Marjan, a $50m (AED184m) resort located in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE.
The 225-key hospitality project is the first four-star resort to be developed within the emirate’s Al Marjan Island, a man-made archipelago that extends 4.5km into the Arabian Gulf.
Crowngate, a UK-headquartered real estate developer, appointed NAGA Architects to design the resort, and Vanguard Consultancy to handle project management. MINOR Hotels will manage the property.
Avani Al Marjan represents Crowngate’s first foray into the hospitality sector, and is due to welcome its first guests in Q3 2019.
Joe McCormack, founding partner of Crowngate, said: “As the key tourism destination in Ras Al Khaimah, Al Marjan Island offers the perfect location for our project, which will firmly position us in an area expected to witness high demand and tremendous tourism growth in the years to come.
“Offering a budget-friendly option for discerning travellers, our four-star Avani Al Marjan Ras Al Khaimah Resort captures a previously untapped market, and we cannot wait to welcome the first guests in 2019.”
Situated on a beachfront plot, Avani Al Marjan will feature two pools, a spa, a gymnasium, and a kid’s club. The resort will offer all-day dining, poolside restaurants, and an event space with a 200-person capacity.
The project’s ground-breaking ceremony was attended by Abdullah Rashed Al Abdooli, managing director of Al Marjan Island LLC, and Haitham Mattar, chief executive officer of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAK TDA).
