Terex updates Demag AC 100-4L with IC-1 Plus control system
Terex Cranes has equipped the Demag AC 100-4L four-axle all-terrain mobile crane with its IC-1 Plus control system for greater performance and flexibility
Terex Cranes has equipped the Demag AC 100-4L four-axle all-terrain mobile crane with the IC-1 Plus control system – delivering improvements to lifting performance, especially when operating the crane with a steep main boom angle.
The AC 100-4L crane is already one of the most compact cranes in the 100-tonne class, but with the inclusion of the Demag IC-1 Plus control system, it can calculate the maximum allowable lifting capacity based on its slewing angle and counterweight configuration.
The system therefore removes the maximum lifting capacity limits associated with a pre-calculated, 360° load chart, which are always based on the most unstable position of the crane.
In practice, it enables the 100-tonne crane to perform jobs where higher capacity cranes would typically be needed, and is particularly useful when working with reduced outrigger settings and reduced counterweight.
The use of a 100-tonne crane equipped with IC-1 Plus control system, as opposed to a larger crane, or equipped with less counterweight, can then provide further benefits by reducing transport costs.
Terex has also taken the opportunity to make some additional updates to the AC 100-4L based on customer feedback, incorporating several design concepts that work to simplify service operations.
Notably, the parts and components commonality has been increased between the AC 100-4L and other Demag all-terrain cranes to reduce spare parts inventory costs and storage, affecting everything from the drive train to the boom head and main boom extensions.
What has not changed is that the Demag AC 100-4L all-terrain crane remains the only crane in the 100-tonne class to offer a standard truck width of just 2.55m, even when equipped with large 445/95R25 tyres – allowing it to easily navigate congested urban areas.
With its 59.4m main boom length and 69.5m total system length, the AC 100-4L offers one of the longest system lengths that can travel on four axles while adhering to 12-tonne axle load limits.
