Middle East cleaning body eyes 'crucial' UAE sectors
Middle East Consultancy Association's chairman, Ahmad M Alayan, said the organisation's UAE operation will focus on the education, health, and aviation markets
Middle East Consultancy Association (MECA), a professional body for the cleaning and facility management (FM) industries in the Middle East, North Africa, and South and Central Asia, has launched its operations in the UAE.
The agency's immediate plans will focus on the education, health, and aviation markets – three "crucial sectors that [...] have long been overlooked when it comes to green cleaning programmes", MECA said in a statement.
Remarking on the launch, Ahmad M Alayan, chairman and CEO of MECA, said: "MECA aims to be omnipresent within the UAE’s cleaning, hygiene, and FM industries.
"We have done extensive market research, taken intelligence from service providers, owners, and government officials, and the need for a regulatory body is [...] paramount.
"As the UAE and the region continue to grow, local and regional suppliers, manufacturers, service providers, cleaners, and governmental bodies within the industry are not all primed to grow with it.
"This is where MECA plays a prominent role in helping to provide a platform for the industry to thrive."
ISSA, a global professional body for the cleaning industry, is MECA's "primary ally" and will support its endeavour in the UAE, Alayan added.
