Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower) has started delivering 11,000 RT of district cooling services to Jumeirah Village Triangle (JVT) and Jumeirah Village Circle (JVC) projects.

According to the company, the project is divided into several phases and Empower will produce 30,000 RT by the end of 2017.

Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower, said: “We are very pleased to deliver the first phase of district cooling solutions to JVC and JVT. The project has been supervised and managed with a high level of efficiency. The best technology has been deployed to construct the network in JVC and JVT, which will ensure highest performance and quality.”

Empower had signed a contract last year with Nakheel to provide district cooling services to JVC and JVT. The company will reportedly invest $490m (AED1.8bn) in five years for this project, and will build up to six cooling plants in the two locations.

Bin Shafar added: “Developers are becoming increasingly aware of the advantages of reliability of district cooling service. The strong local and international reputation of Empower has made it the first choice for cooling services, thus helping us acquire larger segment of the district cooling market in Dubai.”
