Dubai Metro’s red line will be partially closed on Fridays and Saturdays starting from the end of July as part of ongoing work for Route 2020.
The RTA announced that the partial closure will take place from 28 July to 24 October, 2017 between Jumeirah Lakes Towers Station and Ibn Battuta Station for a total of 10 weeks on the weekends only.
Mohammed Yousef Al Mudharreb, director of rail operation, RTA’s Rail Agency, said: “An alternative operational plan would be in place as Metro riders would be offered free shuttle bus service between the two stations.
“The alternative plan for the said Metro partial closure encompasses the deployment of shuttle bus service to commute riders between JLT Metro Station and Ibn Battuta Metro Station.”
The authority announced additional traffic changes on June 27 in streets linked to works in progress of the Route 2020 metro project as it enters its latest phase.
Diversions have since been set up in areas including Discovery Gardens, The Gardens, Al Furjan and other districts developed by Nakheel Properties to ease the flow of traffic while work progresses.
