The Abu Dhabi City Municipality (ADM), in collaboration with a few of its partners carried out Phase 3 of the community-oriented environmental initiative for beach cleaning, starting from the Abu Dhabi Corniche.

ADM partnered with the Seven Emirates Diving Team, Abu Dhabi Waste Centre (Tadweer), Abu Dhabi’s Critical Infrastructure and Coastal Protection Authority, along with Burooj Real Estate Company, and Saj 2 Go Restaurant.

The campaign themed ‘Because We Care’ managed to collect about two tonnes of waste and environmentally hazardous materials such as plastic bottles, aluminium cans, fishing nets, solid items, wood and glass bottles.

The launch of this campaign reflects the humanitarian values and principles of the initiative of HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, declaring 2017 as The Year of Giving, ADM said in a statement.

The Municipality and its partners are keen on implementing the principles of social responsibility and engaging a wide spectrum of community segments, it added.
