Meeting held in Bahrain for investment in renewables

Dr Abdul Hussain Mirza, Electricity and Water Affairs Minister, and Arnim Ramsey, CEO, Earth Energy Environmental Services, met in Bahrain to review investments in the renewable energy sector.They also discussed street lighting systems and electrical energy saving devices, according to BNA.
The meeting was also attended by Adnan Fakhro, executive vice president of Distribution and Customer Services, Jehan Al Murbati, executive director of the Sustainable Energy Unit and Dr. Ahmed Hashem, the Minister’s Advisor for Technical and Engineering Affairs.
At the meeting, Ramsey presented a proposal on Smart Street Lighting in Bahrain with a Magnetic Energy Recovery System that would save a good proportion of the energy currently used.
Dr. Mirza said during the meeting that the ministry welcomed continuous cooperation with international companies wishing to take part in the development of this important sector.
The company executives were also briefed on the opportunities available to invest in energy efficiency projects and solar energy. The company recently took part in a project to upgrade street lighting efficiency in Juffair district through Magnetic Energy Recovery technology.
The minister said that the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) and the Sustainable Energy Unit welcomed such technologies and opened investment opportunities for international companies and institutions.
