Work starts on $7m road project in UAE’s Ras Al Khaimah

The project, which is expected to be completed by Q2 2018, covers the construction of internal roads at the Bateen Al Samar Residential Complex

The UAE Ministry of Infrastructure Development has announced that it has commenced work on a road project in Ras Al Khaimah worth an estimated $7m (AED26m).

The project covers the construction of internal roads at the Bateen Al Samar Residential Complex and is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2018, according to UAE state news agency, WAM.

Quoting Eng Ahmed Al Hammadi, director of the ministry’s roads department, the news agency noted that the roads will be installed with solar-powered lighting systems and developed according to sustainability and green building standards.

By employing solar-powered lighting, the ministry sees the project contributing towards reducing the country’s carbon emissions and environmental impact.
