Sharjah’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced that it is in the process of selecting a contractor for its Intersection No 8 project on Sharjah-Al Dhaid Road.

The project, valued at $18.2m (AED67m), will reportedly include the construction of a new bridge to replace the existing bridge on Sharjah-Al Dhaid Road, and to allow a double-lane overhead passage.

According to UAE state news agency, WAM, the overhead passage will be 7.3m wide in each direction, and will span a total length of 2.6km.

Quoting Eng Yusuf Saleh Al Suwaiji, chairman of RTA Sharjah, WAM noted that the project will be implemented as per the directions of HH Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to expand infrastructure development projects in the emirate.

Moreover, it will be monitored by Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, to ensure that the development of road networks is in line with international standards, Al Suwaiji added.
