Motorsport Business Park in Dubai may get Phase 2 expansion
Union Properties and Dubai Autodrome may add a second phase to the project, currently under construction in Dubai Motor City, officials told Construction Week
A second phase may be added to the Motorsport Business Park project that is currently under construction in the centre of the race circuit in Dubai’s Motor City.
Ryan Trutch, special projects manager of Dubai Autodrome, told Construction Week that all units of the facility were leased out or pre-booked two weeks after the project was announced.
Valued at $4.3m (AED15.8m), the 5,600m2 project is a Union Properties development and a Dubai Autodrome initiative.
Multilink Contracting, the project’s main contractor, is expecting construction works to be completed by December 2017.
"We’re only in the initial stages of deciding whether we are going to proceed or not," Trutch said.
"We’ve basically leased all of the units, pre-booked them within two weeks. So, because of the high demand, we are considering doing Phase 2."
If Union Properties decides to pursue a second phase for the project, the expansion will add around 3,600m2 to 3,700m2 to the development's overall size.
Johnson Mathew, projects manager at Design House Engineering Consultancy, noted that Phase 2 will consist of two buildings, adding: "One building will be around 2,000m2, while the second will be around 1,600m2."
