Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA) has replaced the overhead power transmission lines with ground power cables exceeding a length of 70km.

The transmission lines cover the areas of Al-Batayeh, Al-Zubair, Al-Bahawi, Al-Rahmaniyah, Hamdah and Al-Rashidiya.

The project is in line with SEWA’s strategy to enhance the efficiency of power grids in Sharjah, according to WAM

Dr Rashid Al Leem, chairman of SEWA, said that the project aims to achieve security and safety, and serves as a protection from negative climate changes such as humidity, wind, rain and high temperatures on overhead power cables.

Al Leem commented that SEWA is keen to co-ordinate with various public and private bodies to ensure sustainable growth.

He added that the aim is to achieve satisfaction with the services it provides in the fields of electricity, water and natural gas.
