Abu Dhabi's $108m Shawamikh infra projects on track
Phase 1 of the Shawamikh programme, which costs $70.5m, is due for completion in Q4 2018, and Phase 2, worth $37.7m, will be completed in Q1 2019
Abu Dhabi Municipality (ADM) revealed that its roads and infrastructure projects in Shawamikh, worth $108m (AED397m), are progressing as planned.
ADM's Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport (DMAT) is implementing the projects with Abu Dhabi Public Services Company (Musanada).
Phase 1 of the programme, which costs $70.5m (AED259m), is due for completion in Q4 2018.
Projects being implemented as part of the programme include extending communications, water, electricity, and sewerage networks in 800 land plots, which are dedicated to residential (732), religious (9), public utilities (1), and government (6) facilities.
The land plots also include spaces for educational (3), communication (2), commercial (6), and service (28) facilities.
Projects implemented in Sectors and 12 include road lighting and servicing, worth $4.4m (AED16.3m).
Meanwhile, Phase 2 of the Shawamakh programme includes works for internal roads and infrastructure in sectors 1, 2, 4, 5, 9, and 10, worth $37.7m (AED138.6m).
Phase 2 is due for completion in the first quarter of 2019.
Project scope includes designing and constructing 301 land plots, including 241 residential units.
Plans for Phase 2 also include works to improve the lighting efficiency along roads, worth $1.1m (AED4.3m).
