KEO issues progress update for Expo 2020 Dubai’s Expo Village
KEO has completed the technical design for six parcels of Expo Village, the project that will serve as the residential community during Expo 2020 Dubai
KEO International Consultants has completed the technical design for six parcels of Expo 2020 Dubai’s Expo Village.
The Kuwait-headquartered consultancy has also conducted piling-related supervision services for five parcels of the project, which is being developed by Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).
DWTC commissioned KEO to conduct concept design for Expo Village’s buildings and infrastructure, and provide full design and construction supervision for Phase 1 of the project.
With 2,273 apartment units, Expo Village will serve as the residential community during Expo 2020. It is scheduled to be delivered in Q4 2019.
Donna Sultan, president and chief executive officer of KEO, said: “The completion of the design phase and the supervision [for Expo Village] is only made successful through the dedicated efforts of our international team of experts and the effective collaboration with [DWTC], as well as the various stakeholders involved.”
Commenting on the importance of the project’s long-term legacy, Sultan added: “The Expo Village will be brought to life during Expo 2020 Dubai, and KEO’s vision in designing this development goes beyond the mega event to support the client in [its] strategic vision to deliver a signature residential development of choice to the emirate.”
In addition to hosting thousands of visitors and participants during Expo 2020, Expo Village will feature a range of retail outlets and community amenities, including a school, a day-care centre, and a healthcare facility.
The project, which is to be delivered in two phases, consists of 11 plots, each with podium parking. It will be connected to Dubai Metro’s Red Line extension, and designed within a building information modelling (BIM) framework to achieve LEED Gold certification.
