The Saudi Civil Defense (SCD) has revealed its plans to ensure pilgrim safety during the upcoming Hajj season.

Senior officials reportedly stated that SCD's general-directorate has prepared the readiness plan in collaboration with more than 32 government agencies and consultants.

More than 17,000 personnel have been recruited for the Hajj programme, Maj Gen Hamad Al-Mubadal of the Civil Defense Forces, said.

Meanwhile, at least 3,000 patrol units have been equipped with tools to ensure safety and mitigate risks.

All officers participating in the programme "underwent a high-standard training" routine for the pilgrimage.

Smart apps will be used to locate and access key sites, and digital maps have been introduced around holy sites, according to Kuwaiti news agency, KUNA.
