Elevator manufacturer Thyssenkrupp is developing a new technology in elevator travel called Multi.

Multi is billed to be the world’s first rope-free elevator system, a project that has kept Thyssenkrupp veteran Markus Jetter busy since 2013.

Multi is poised to increase transport capacities by 50% and its single loop can incorporate multiple cabins, Jetter informed.

“Multi also offers much higher capacities and faster journey times compared to traditional high-speed elevators, which are limited by the effects of pressure on the human body - with many people experiencing discomfort while travelling in elevators at speeds higher than 10 m/s (36kmph),” he said.

Multi will have a targeted speed that halves that number at 5 m/s.
