Work on Ras Al Khaimah’s second Ritz-Carlton resort is scheduled to complete in Q4 2017.

UAE-based real estate conglomerate Al Hamra Group (AHG) is in the process of rebranding and renovating Al Hamra Village’s former Banyan Tree Hotel.

Once the $10m (AED36.7m) refurbishment is complete, the 32-chalet beachfront property will reopen as the Ritz-Carlton Ras Al Khaimah, Al Hamra Beach.

Benoy Kurien, general manager of AHG, told Construction Week that the resort would offer guests “a completely different experience”.

“This project comprises 32 chalets, which are all located on a private beach,” he said. “Each chalet will come with its own pool.

“We’re currently transforming all of the units, the clubhouse, and the common areas. The renovation is costing approximately $10m (AED36.7m), and is due to complete in December 2017,” Kurien added.

In October 2016, The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company signed a management agreement with RAK National Hotels (RAKNH), marking its entry into the emirate while reflagging two properties previously operated by Banyan Tree.

Al Wadi Desert, Ras Al Khaimah – Ritz Carlton Partner Hotel‎, which was the first of these properties to open, boasts 101 private luxury pool villas.
