Project works to begin on Hatta's $350m eco-tourism drive
A project worth $680,600 has been launched by Dubai Municipality as part of the Hatta Comprehensive Development plan
Dubai Municipality (DM) has kicked off project works under its $350m (AED1.3bn) programme to transform Hatta into an eco-tourism destination.
One of the projects that will be implemented under the Hatta Comprehensive Development plan includes works worth $680,642 (AED2.5m) at the Al Sheraa heritage area.
A 200-year-old mosque is situated in Al Sheraa, which is considered a significant archaeological site in Dubai.
Omar Saeed Al Mutaiwei, head of DM's Hatta Centre, said the Al Sheraa project comprises several phases, the first of which includes the fencing, lighting, and paving of pedestrian pathways.
"The project also includes building eight rest houses, a gate, and an information office," he added.
Up to 30 public rest-houses and a 2km pathway will also be developed within Al Sheraa.
In addition, DM has allocated commercial areas for startups "to encourage Hatta's entrepreneurs and give them business opportunities", Arabian Business reported.
