INTERVIEWS, Facilities Management

What does your role involve?

As operations director of MJB group I lead the various day-to-day operations and administrative tasks involved in business growth. MJB is group of several companies and I ensure all business entities are performing well in conjunction. I also play a key role in setting up strategies and commercial opportunities to ensure the company stays competitive in the market.

What do you love most about your job?

I love learning new practices and tricks of the business helping me take on challenges. Being in operations is always a challenging proposition which makes me more interested to perform better at my work.

What is the most challenging aspect of your job?

That would have to be issues relating to quality and pricing in the present market environment. It’s also a challenge to adopt new business practices to improve customer satisfaction.  However, that’s what leads to several opportunities and operational improvements.

Where do you see the FM industry in five years?

The FM industry will have more importance in the years to come as new technologies get introduced which aid in efficiency and sustainability. Analysing FM spend against appropriate benchmarks will further empower FM industry  to better control that spend and drive improved performance across their organisations’. By using advanced database and analytics techniques, companies will be able to see both facilities’ impact on the rest of their business, and just as importantly, how the rest of their business impacts their facilities.

What has been your most memorable project so far?

I have had the privilege of working on several memorable projects in my 15 years’ career in FM. But my role and achievements in MJB group has been a special one especially in the last two years where we have managed to double the growth. We have also managed to streamline operations and set a robust business strategy in place. This has not only helped us achieve our targets but ensured sustained growth.

What do you do in your spare time?

I play cricket during my spare time and learn new things on the internet. I enjoy spending time with family and friends and indulging in gadgets.
