The Six Construct team hopes to achieve Estidama's Pearl 3 rating, and LEED Platinum certification, for the project's buildings, Amin Nalouti, area manager at the contracting firm, said.
"To achieve this, we must comply with a series of design principles and key performance indicators, including architectural and environmental design guidelines," he added.
Key design features that are expected to drive sustainability include climatic design to encourage wind movement and provide shaded external spaces, which would, in turn, improve outdoor thermal comfort.
High-performance building facades, efficient heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems, and building integrated renewable energy will also be installed to achieve energy efficiency.
Efficient water fixtures, as well as greywater recycling for irrigation use – including waste-segregation installations to facilitate recycling – and low-embodied carbon material selection will form an integral part of the project.
