ADM cracks down on illegal dumping of construction waste
Abu Dhabi City Municipality has issued $190,000 worth of fines for the illegal dumping of construction and sewage waste
Abu Dhabi City Municipality (ADM) is cracking down on the illegal dumping of construction and sewage waste.
Launched in August 2017, the campaign is designed to monitor and track vehicles carrying waste products in Abu Dhabi’s industrial areas.
To date, ADM has issued fines for seven offences relating to the illegal dumping of construction and sewage waste.
The tickets that have been issued so far carry fines amounting to approximately $190,000 (AED700,000) in total.
During the campaign, ADM spotted seven vehicles in breach of the law governing the appearance of the city, and regulations protecting public facilities under Article 56.
Fines of $27,000 (AED100,000) were issued to each vehicle that was operating in violation of the regulations.
ADM’s inspection teams will continue to curb the illegal dumping of waste products as part of the ongoing campaign.
Officials have called on the drivers of vehicles transporting waste from construction sites and sewage water tankers to deposit their loads in designated locations.
Abu Dhabi’s Centre of Waste Management (Tadweer) operates landfill sites that are authorised to receive construction-related debris.
